Mondays @ 5:30PM / REbuilding foundations
Instructor Abby Christman, assistant Maddie Ulinski
1.5 hours, Limited to 5 students
July 10, 17, 24, 31, August 7, 14, 21
Has your dog gotten faster and more confident in agility leaving you struggling to keep up? Are there certain parts of courses that you aren’t sure how to handle and your dog has questions? Do you want to revisit some of the exercises you learned in your first agility classes and see how they can improve your teamwork with your now faster, more advanced dog? If you answered yes to any of these questions, Rebuilding Foundations may be the class for you!
In this class, we will go back to basics and re-work some simple exercises and skills that serve as the building blocks to faster, more confident teamwork on course. These exercises will increase the different tools we can pull out of our toolboxes to expand our handling options. When working sequences, different handling options will be considered, and handlers will discuss why they feel their decision is appropriate for their dog. The first half of the class will be focused on revisiting foundations skills, including flat work, jumping, and handling. The rest of the session will be driven by the needs and wants of the teams in class.
This class is not intended for dogs new to agility or as an introduction to equipment or handling. It is aimed at teams at an intermediate level (trialing at CPE level 2/3 or AKC Novice/Open or equivalent training) or higher who want to improve their teamwork, handling, and foundation skills.
This class will be off-leash in a secure environment and dogs need to be under control at all times. Teams will sometimes work skills two at a time (separated by ring gating), but any sequence or exercise at full speed will be done one dog at a time. Excessive barking, running at gates, and other disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Dogs need to be quietly crated when it is not their turn in the ring.
